We came across TechCrunch’s article “Big Data Right Now: Five Trendy Open Source Technologies” and thought it would be an appropriate follow up to last week’s post, The Face of Big Data.
In this article TechCrunch breaks down the latest and greatest Big Data open source technologies and exactly why you should care.
Among others, we were happy to see R on the list. R is a statistical programming language that we use in our analysis suite, Savanna. With the availability of open source technologies there’s no need to reinvent the wheel, we simply plug in R and we’re able to take advantage of community best analytic practices.
With Savanna our focus is providing a suite of familiar tools all in one environment that enables users of any skill level to produce quality analysis and intelligence products. Savanna makes R (a traditionally difficult to use analytics package) much easier, allowing us to offer a statistical analysis component that is user friendly for any level of user.
